Having the day off from school, I spent the morning doing some yard birding. Six warbler species (parulas, palms, myrtles, Black-and-white, yellowthoats, and a prairie), Red-eyed and Blue-headed Vireos, tons of waxwings, a cooperative male American Robin, Cooper's and Red-shouldered Hawk, probably the last of my gnatcatchers, Tree Swallows, and best of all, a male Painted Bunting. I had 30 species in or over the yard today total!
Other species of interest down the street include Spot-breasted Orioles, Red-masked, White-winged, and Yellow-chevroned Parakeets, and a Short-tailed Hawk. The Red-eyed Vireo was a year bird, and Tree Swallow was a Shores bird and yard bird.
