I enjoy the experience too. Maybe they've become tame and more tolerant to human disturbance. However, they still flitter away through shrubbery and trees if you approach TOO closely.

I agree, though. They're pretty tame.

Could it be that a disease or disorder is infecting them, causing them to be weaker and less wary of human disturbance, but not actually kill the birds?
