Spoonbills on Virginia Key always look out of place to me! Young birds (sometimes an adult) started showing up in the DERM restoration areas 5 years ago, usually toward late summer and never more than one or two birds. It would be interesting to know if they are dispersed birds from Biscayne Bay or Florida Bay islands. Perhaps Pete Frezza or Brennan Mulrooney will have a comment.
