I birded my place this morning in a light rain and overcast skies. I noticed the oaks were alive with birds. Closer inspection revealed several warblers along with many Glue-grey Gnat-catchers.
I also had quite a few Red-bellied Woodpeckers due to the recent fledging of a nest in the yard. This is the second clutch of the year for the woodpeckers, that came out of a dead 5"-6" dia. Alexander Palm tree. It had to be pretty crowded in there!
Other birds were as follows:
Rock Pigeon 5
White-winged Dove 5
Mourning Dove 2
Red-bellied WP 8
Blue Jay 10
Blue-grey Gnat-catcher 13
Black and White Warbler 4
American Redstart 1
Northern Parula 3
Yellow-throated Warbler 1
Prairie Warbler 3
Northern Cardinal 5
