Kirby Storter was a relative of George Storter, who bought the town of Everglade (later Everglades City) for $800.00 in the early 1900's. George owned the first painted house in Everglades City, which he sold to Barron Collier, who turned it into the historic Rod & Gun Club, where Everglades National Park was dedicated by President Harry S. Truman in 1947. The "Club" remains open today and its' restaurant, which specializes in fresh seafood, has a beautiful screened in patio for dining on the Barron River. I remember reading that Kirby was killed in either World War I or II. A Kirby S. Storter died in Miami-Dade County in 1975. I would venture to say he was a descendant of the same clan. Life is good................... knowing that someone with more spare time than I will clarify the above information.
Congratulations to David & Inga. I believe a celebratory libation is in order.
