Yesterday headed to Biscayne National Park (Convoy Point) in a family outing. Birdwise not very eventful:

DC Cormorant
Laughing Gull
Mourning Dove
Gray Kingbird
Loggerhead Shrike
Mockingbird
Starling
Cardinal
BT Grackles

The Shrike and Starlings were deep inside the mangroves, which I thought was unusual.

This morning went to Matheson (with family again). Things were not much better. Birded the small beach area and the oak grove across from the entrance to Fairchild Tropical Garden. Highlights were Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (1) and Yellow-throated Warblers (3).

This afternoon went to Indian Hammocks. Highlights were Swallow-tailed Kite, White-crowned Pigeons, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers (3) and Black-and-white Warbler (1).

Overall, things still pretty slow. Highlights for me were not bird related: Spotted Eagle-Rays jumping out of the water at Matheson and 2 Florida mangrove specialty butterflies: Mangrove Skipper (Biscayne) and Mangrove Buckeye (Matheson)
