On Rte. 80 east of Clewiston, look for John Stretch Park. Just past it, on the south side of the highway, you'll see a road sign for Miami Canal Rd. Take it. At first, the road is paved but then becomes a dirt road. Follow it, paralleling the Miami Canal all the was to the large group of Bald Cypress trees you see in the distance. There is a concrete barrier that thwarts any forward travel on the road by the trees. Park there. Don't slam your car doors nor make any loud sounds. Walk up the embankment to the top of the berm. The Barn Owls can be anywhere in the thinker trees but usually favor the Australian Pines on the right side. They will flush so be ready when they fly. Any time is OK but early morning seems to be best. Good luck.
