I've done a yard count for 3 or 4 years for GBBC, and it's a good excuse to do some birding on your local patch (plus get in some outdoor chores)
This year I had 30 species + 2 more exotics, and that included some big misses like Green Heron, Double-crested Cormorant and Palm Warbler. BOTD was a light phase Short-tailed Hawk, which was close enough for a recognizable picture (posted on the GBBC website).
The day's results:
3 Cattle Egret
28 White Ibis
11 Turkey Vulture
1 Osprey
1 Short-tailed Hawk
1 American Kestrel
