There has been talk that the Lauderdale House Finches may be escapees, since it was a "colony" isolated by a couple hundred miles from the nearest known birds when first discovered several years ago. It wouldn't surprise me if they were escapees, but without proof one way or another (and the provenance of the birds might be ascertainable through stable isotope analysis if somebody could salvage some feathers), I don't see a problem counting them.
