Eulophia graminea Lindl. apearing in great numbers all over the campus at Hoechoka Hammock, the pre-school of Mary Help of Christians Church, and the middle school grounds. All are in common with cypress chips and display three to five erect leaves strongly resembling weeds or grass. Flower stalks range from 3 inches to two feet. This is a sudden irruption of these plants as last year only three appeared. So far the numbers are over fifty and new ones are emerging daily. They have probably been here for some time as the corms are 2-7 inches in size. Best guess is that the children ran over them on the cypress chip playground and the plants were not visible until the summer recess. Anyone wanting a view drive to the portable playground area and look into the playground area. University Drive and Sawgrass Parkland.
