Today, only after a few minutes of searching, I found the two Smooth-billed and the Groove-billed Anis feeding on the hedge right along Griffen Road. They fed, sunned, and preened eachother for 5 minutes before flying across the busy Griffen to the community. Yikes! I would hope they'd stay in the park itself. Maybe someone should find a way for us to protect these birds by asking whoever manages the park (Broward Parks, the airport, etc) to plant enough fruit or flower bearing shrubs and trees to keep the anis from a lot of wandering. I don't know if that's a good idea or not, but bringing attention may help keep the anis here around longer. I know Clewiston did this with their anis (yeah, yeah, yeah, we all know how that was a bust). I'll gladly make some phone calls, but I have no idea who to call, or how to manage the situation.
Also, I know there have been a few reports of people who have anis in their area. I think one woman had one in Hallandale.
If anyone would happen to know of any spots where they have seen anis within the last few months, I would be very happy to know where. These birds are awesome!
By the way, there was an Ovenbird and a Hermit Thrush at Greenway Park near where the anis were, and a juvenile Red-shouldered Hawk sitting on one of my neighbor's fences. Cool bird for the neighborhood.
