While working in the backyard with my lovely bride, Pam, on Monday, June 11. 2012,we were pleasantly surprised to hear a Black-whiskered Vireo (BWVI) calling, while perched in one of our Areca Palm. Another BWVI was returning the call off in the distance indicating probable breeding. A Northern Mockingbird soon appeared and chased the bird to the Mahogany in the front yard. The last time I located this species in my yard was on June 3, 2001, which I was able to locate a nest in a Live Oak down the street. Will keep my eyes and ears open to attempt to find the nest or fledglings to confirm breeding for the Breeding Bird Atlas 2012. Life is good..........
