The nest is near the back of the loop - if you enter and go counter-clockwise around the main loop, after you pop out of the tree canopy where the chickee hut is, and cross that patch of open water, look to the right in the first stand of reeds across the water - about 10-12 feet off the boardwalk. The nest is just about 2-3 feet off the water, and you'll likely see one sitting on the nest, with the other often nearby lurking for food. All along that back stretch at the north side of the park is where the highest likelihood is of seeing individual bitterns on the hunt. And the third good spot is at the west end of the loop just to the south of the cypress tree strand - that's where the earlier nest hatched with the 4 chicks who are now grown, and they still hang out all through that pond area.
