I spent just under an hour birding Carysfort Circle off old 905 in North Key Largo this morning. The area was quite birdy and certainly deserves a longer look. In the short time I was there I turned up a calling Brown-crested Flycatcher (seen and heard), a Yellow-breasted Chat, and a Clay-colored Sparrow. There were several Painted Buntings, White-crowned Pigeons were flying overhead and at one point I thought I might have heard a Mangrove Cuckoo, but couldn't confirm that. Hopefully I'll be able to look more closely at this area this weekend. Carysfort Circle is about 2 miles south of the intersection of 905 and Card Sound Road. As long as you bird from the road, I don't think you need a backcountry permit.
