We have been following a Purple Martin roost near home for several years. Every year the roost shifts around a bit but we can easily find the roost year after year. This year the roost is located at 16301 NW 57th Ave in Miami Lakes/Mia Garndens. There is a Regions Bank at this intersection. Park in the banks lot around 7:45pm and wait for the martins to pour in. This year we are estimating that the roost hosts ~15K martins. It is truly an amazing sight and one not to be missed if you have never experienced a martin roost! I know people will joke about bringing an umbrella or wearing a hat but seriously, if you want to see something out of this world, show up at the address above just before sunset.
