Stormwater Treatment Areas Public-Use Workshop

Birders may want to attend this workshop since some of the state's best birding areas for ducks, waders, shorebirds etc. can be found at these STA's such as STA 1-W in Palm Beach County and STA-5 in Hendry County. These areas are currently only open to the public (groups only) for non-hunting purposes on certain dates, and then by SFWMD "escort" only. If you want to see this change in the future, you might want to attend. . . .

"Public-use workshop: A workshop to discuss public recreation at stormwater treatment areas and other public lands controlled by the South Florida Water Management District is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 17 at the district's B-1 auditorium, 3301 Gun Club Road, West Palm Beach. Call Jerry Krenz at (561) 682-6746."
