Last Sunday, Miguel Padura and I watched about 30 Lesser Nighthawks from the backside of Lucky Hammock, looking toward the park. If you walk the dirt road through the planted field behind the hammock, you'll get better looks as you approach the pines in the park. They showed up exactly at sunset.
We had a WT Kite on Research Road, about 1/2 mile after it turns left toward the old missile site. It was on the left side sitting in a bush, affording good scope views.
Don't miss the adult male Vermilion Flycatcher along the canal at the Greenway bike trail. If you're not familiar with this location, it's the second possible right turn as you leave the national park (Lucky Hammock is the first). The flycatcyher is generally on one of the chain link fences by the pumping equipment. This bird is not reliable early in the morning, but is almost always there in the afternoon.

: Bruce Christensen and I are making a weekend trip to South Florida from Gainesville targetting the Flamingos at Flamingo, & Anis at the airport. Before heading down, it would be great to hear any reports (positive or negative) for anything in ENP (i.e. White tailed Kite, ST Hawk, L. Nighhawks, etc.) Are there any Swamphens around other than Pembroke Pines? Thanks!
