i'm a long time reader and first time poster to this board. for the last few years i have had two pair of painted buntings nest in or around my yard and visit my feeder daily. this year i have two females and no males. is this noteworthy or is the same sex marriage issue further along in the avian world than it is here? i have also had flocks of between 100-200 robins the past two days feeding in a bischofia tree (i'm glad someone likes it) in my yard. i have lived here in plantation for 18 years and these are the first robins i've seen. finally as a novice birder i find it very difficult to identify birds i see only fleetingly and would love to be able to photograph them and do the research later. i'm very impressed with some of the photos i see on this board and would be grateful for any information as to the equipment used. burrowing owls and spot breasted orioles are pretty plentiful here if you are looking for either.
