Hi Paul,

Fortunately your photos show a diagnostic field mark for separating Golden from Black-bellied. Your bird clearly has a hind toe, which rules out both of the Golden Plovers. There is one other common shorebird which lacks a hind toe, but it's quite a lot smaller than this guy.
