Sounds like an Egypian Goose. Check the pictures on Gail's post of 1/9.
: Saw a duck-like bird in Margate, Fla. last week w. injured wing. Mostly brown back, white stripe from head to base of bill, pink wide bill, thick pink gnarled legs with large pink webbed feet, roundish patches surrounding each eye, nearly white chest with roundish darker brown circle in middle of chest, puffed out whitish chest with head set back behind it, brown ring around base of neck, size of duck, neck fairly long when extended, poking bill in grass for food near canal. Under feathers were several colors, including white and dark blue, black tail feathers. What kind of bird is this? Please identify.
