Nutmeg Mannikin

For the last few days I have been getting two Nutmeg Mannikins at my feeders. This is the first time that I have had them in my yard. There has been a fairly large flock on the west side of Matheson Hammock, I don't see them very often there. We have also had some fly by Yellow-chevroned Parakeets which are uncommon in Homestead.

When I told Toe about the Nutmeg Mannikins, he was totally thrilled!

These are pretty little birds common in the cage bird trade and established in small numbers in south Florida. Lots more of them in the Florida panhandle. They are well established in Southern California where I have seen many.
