This is probably old news to the locals, but yesterday, while I was over in Miami-Dade County, I stopped at the backside of Matheson Hammock (Old Schoolhouse Rd./Hammock Rd.?) and had good looks at several Red-masked Parakeets as well as Common Hill Mynas. Lots of Chimney Swifts flying about as well as more common species such as Northern Cardinals, European Starlings, calling Carolina Wren, Great Crested Flycatcher, etc. I had to pick up someone at the Miami International Airport so while standing outside by my car at the cellphone parking lot, first a bat of some kind flew within 10 feet of me. A little later, a Common Nighthawk winged by . . . .
