Miami-Dade birders continue to find additional birds to add to both their personal and our cumulative county lists for the June Challenge.
On Saturday, Joe Barros reported that he had seen a Least Bittern at Cutler Wetlands, while Paul Bithorn had picked up Yellow Warbler (Cuban) in the Miami-Dade portion of Card Sound Road. However, the big haul of birds came from the Toelagic with nine additional species added to the Miami-Dade June Challenge list: Brown Booby, Cory's and Audubon's Shearwater, Wilson's, Band-rumped, and Leach's Storm-Petrel, Sooty and Bridled Tern, and Brown Noddy.
On Sunday, I went out birding along Tamiami Trail and picked up a surprise Gray Catbird in the Miami-Dade portion of Loop Road (last house raised up on a mound, in a bush right by the road). Larry and Phillip Manfredi added Snail Kite down in the Homestead area.
We are doing well!
Carlos
