Yesterday afternoon we saw two Reddish Egrets on the beach behind the Divers Paradise in Crandon Marina. One bird was prancing around when the second bird, most likely a juvenile, flew in and started to make a ruckus. The second bird was dull with lots of gray, the two squabbled for a few seconds before flying off towards the roost island behind the marina. This is the first time we hear Reddish Egret vocalize, something Andrew Spencer from Cornell would have loved to record. According to him there are little to no recordings of Reddish Egret.
