The Eurasian Widegon is back!! It was spotted on 1/13/05 at Eagle Lakes in west Naples. The duck was found in the north part of the lake on an aquatic weed patch with other ducks-Shovelor, American Widegon and Blue winged Teals.
Park in the parking lot, go up to the gazebo, and take the trail to the left over to the large lake. It was found about half way across the lake. I recommend bringing a scope. The lake is in better condition this year, so that is why they may be in the north part instead of by the apartments. Eagle Lakes can be found about 3 miles west on Us 41-Tamami Trail from the county road to Marco Island/ Briggs Nature Center. It is the lfirst exit past the toll booth on Alligator Alley/I-75 going west.
