Hi All,
I work for a small non-profit that has been doing research on Swallow-tailed Kites for 25 years and we were just granted a couple GPS-satellite transmitters to put on adult kites this year.
We would like to get one tagged in South FL (anywhere south of the latitude of Lake Okeechobee) and one in the Panhandle, both of which we need help finding an active kite territory (don t really need to see the nest, but a suspected nest area would be great). We need to act fast since our best chance of capturing a bird is when there are chicks in a nest, and now the chicks are just about to fledge.
Please email me off list if you suspect nesting kite locations in the Panhandle or South Florida: ginakent@arcinst.org
Thanks for your help.
Sincerely,
Gina Kent
