opps, forgot to mention that the vireo was seen on the 28th.
: On a first trip to florida for some great but windy birding this last week I had two birds I though may be of note this time of year in florida. A female WESTERN TANAGER at Dagny Johnson Key Largo Hammock Botanical Park on December 29. It was feeding on berries high in the trees, don't know what species, associating with Cardinals that I believe were doing the same thing at the end of the double wide road that begins the park. It was also called a few times. Other than that it was very quite birdwise there that morning, windy. At Mohagany Hammock in the everglades a suprise was a YELLOW-THROATED VIREO in a mixed species flock of the more typical warblers and vireos, etc. If I think of anything else I saw on the trip unusual I post it later.
