I found two Brants here in south Miami-Dade county this morning at 9
a.m. at Black Point Park. These birds were feeding about half way out on
the jetty. To reach the park, go to pages 230 and 231 in "A Birders
Guide to Florida."

>From the turnpike just south of Cutler Ridge, exit at s.w. 112 ave.
north, then turn right at s.w. 248 st. (Coconut Palm), this is right
after you exit. The road splits to the right and left around a canal,
take the left split and go about 2 miles to the marina. Turn left
before the parking lot, cross the bridge and turn right at the stop
sign. Park at the other end of the parking lot. Walk south on the
paved bike trail, this turns to dirt and continues onto the jetty. As
the path turns to the east and just before a concrete foot bridge and
next to a sign that says Manatee area, is where I saw the birds. They
then swam across the channel to a small jetty on the opposite side.
Look in both areas. I just got a call that they are currently on the
far shoreline at 12:30 pm as I am writing this. You will need a scope
to view the birds there. Look back to your southwest and scope the
shoreline. The walk from the parking lot to this area is about half a
mile or so.
