I spent the first hour after sunrise at Dog Beach at New Pass in Lee County this morning. There were no dogs and no people, only shorebirds, waders, etc. I saw the following species:
Brown Pelican
Great Blue heron
Great Egret
Snowy Egret
Little Blue Heron
Tricolored Heron
Black-crowned Night-Heron
Roseate Spoonbill
White Ibis
Mottled Duck
Osprey
Black-bellied Plover
Wilson's Plover
Semipalmated Plover
Black-necked Stilt (at Big Hickory Island)
Willet
Spotted Sandpiper
Whimbrel
Marbled Godwit
Ruddy Turnstone
Red Knot
Sanderling
Least Sandpiper
Dunlin
Short-billed Dowitcher
Laughing Gull
Royal Tern
Sandwich Tern
Forster's Tern
Black Skimmer
Fish Crow
Northern Cardinal
Common Grackle
Yesterday, at Lover's Key State Park/Big Carlos Pass/Island's End Condominiums a mile or so north of Dog Beach, I had three Snowy Plovers in addition to many of the same birds seen today.
