Two Great Blue Heron nests are now active at Wakodahatchee. As a result of storm damage the easterly nest is in full view with little or no side branch interference. A photographer's dream come true. The board walk is 60+ feet from the nest. The bird is habituated to people walking and jogging along the boardwalk. With incubation under way we should see the chicks sometime about the third week of January.

Extremely high winds (40-45mph) made for some comical viewing as snowy egrets and cattle egret tried ,often in vain, to fly to and settle on the next island. Wood storks were fully stalled when heading into the wind and just hung over the area with no wing beats required. Not a comfortable day.
