Contray to thoughts, I did not know Alexander Wilson and JJ Audubon. They met twice and were not friends. Audubon was cultured, well dressed ,rich and auristocratic and Wilson was Scotch Immigrate poorly dresssed ,flute playing , effeminate, only English speaking scientist. When they met in Philly, Audubon suggested Wilson must go to New England to sell his book. "American Ornitology". he hiked to Yale and sold just 3 copies ( disappointing) and on the way to Hartford he saw a strange ground loveing Agile warbler. It was circa 1836 he shot it and collected it, There is a Ct Warbler. Opporunis Agilis. Wilson later said New Englanders only cared about "Drinking and Politics and not about Nature"

Well today after 56 years of birding..I have only seen 22 Ct Warblers. Today since I have never birding in there breeding territory . I never heard one sing. This one sang several times. the westin hotel lagoon is not easy to bird the habitat is dense ( reference Hooded Warbler that spent a winter there).

It was truly a thrill.. I usualy do not stay this late in Florida and my only goal was a CT!! Woh!1 what a day. sorry Paul my libation since it is 5/5 , I had 2 Margaretias.
