At about 8:45 this morning, I finally got my life Nashville Warbler at Enchanted Forest/Elaine Gordon Park in north Dade. The bird was in a large mixed flock, with about 20 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 15 gnatcatchers, a few parulas, black-and-whites, a Black-throated Blue female, a Black-throated Green , and a few Palms. A Summer Tanager, a Yellow-throated Vireo, and a Blue-headed Vireo were also seen in the same area near the tot lot at the western end of the park. The Summer Tanager, as Paul Bithorn would say, was "just glowing in the sun". Very beautiful, and offered killer looks as it flew in just a few feet away. It took a while to locate the Nashville in there, but the mixed flock is not hard to find. Also of interest, a Worm-eating Warbler was calling and feeding around the area just west of the pony ranch. A Red-shouldered Hawk and 2 Short-tailed Hawks were seen on several occasions (one light, one dark).

In other news, 8 robins were calling from the telephone wires just outside of my house. The rest of Enchanted Forest seemed quiet, but I could hav sworn I heard a Hermit Thrush call from the trails at the northwest perimeter of the park.
Thanks to Wendy and Richard Wallace for finding this warbler on the CBC last Saturday.
