I spent two hours this Sunday morning dodging raindrops at Pelican Bay Community Park here in Naples. There were only a few migrants about but the quality was high. My best bird of the two hours that I was at the park was a Kentucky Warbler. Although I only had a second or two look at this bird in dense underbrush, I'm confident of the ID. Kentucky Warbler in Collier County is rare. Another nice bird seen in the Live Oaks near the tennis courts was a stunning Cape May Warbler. A Blackpoll Warbler and a Northern Parula were the only other warblers seen. The rain might have had a deleterious effect on the number of migrants coming through the park. I also saw a few Least Terns winging
their way west, presumably toward Vanderbilt Beach.
