Five birders joined me for today's TAS trip to Big Cypress National Preserve. Among the five were Paul Ippolito and Diana Fruguglietti, visiting birders from my home state of Massachusetts. I first met Paul and Diana during a Honduras tour last March; it was great birding with them again.

Areas we visited before the rains shut us down included Oasis Visitor Center, Kirby Storter Boardwalk and all of Loop Road. Though construction of culverts continues on Loop Road, the road is once again open from end to end. Though the road is currently paved only along a short stretch at the east end, the unpaved section is well graded; we ll see, though, how long it lasts. Though we failed to find any Prothonotary Warblers today, we saw a nice assortment of birds:
Double-crested Cormorant
Anhinga
Great Blue Heron
Great Egret
Snowy Egret
Cattle Egret
