On Friday afternoon around 4:30 PM, I located a female Western Spindalis at Long Key State Park in the tree island of the parking lot for the hiking trail and board walk. The bird spent most of its time at the north end of the island eating what looked like ficus berries. If you visit, the no-seeums were especially bad in the parking area and the park closes its gate at 5:30 PM.

On Sunday afternoon around 4:00 PM, with the help of an english couple visiting on holiday I located a female Surf Scoter at Echo Pond in ENP. It was hanging with a Red-breasted Merganser. I did take some pictures with their digital camera which they promised to send by email once they returned home.

While helping Joe Barros change a flat on his Miata in the parking area for the Anhinga Trail, we spotted a male Scissor-tailed Flycatcher in the area towards the north end of the parking lot. Sorry you missed the Scoter Joe.

On Friday morning in my neighbor on Plantation key, I located two Pine Siskins. They were on a wire in front of 212 Mohawk off of Seminole near MM89 of Highway 1.

Seems like that the cold front that came through Thur. night stirred things up a bit. But I have not seen Brennan's Blue-headed Vireo the last couple of nights outside of our office window.

Enjoy the birds.
