I went looking for Conrad's Scissortails this morning as I still needed Scissor-tailed Flycatcher as a year bird. I checked the location he mentioned, the power lines along SW 344th (Palm Dr.) near Homestead High School, about .9 mile east of the US 1/Turnpike/344th junction.

Not only did I find 3 Scissor-tailed Flycatchers, but there were two birds that appeared to be Western Kingbirds. It's always a good idea to take a good look at these, and when I did, I noticed a white fringe on the tail of one of the Kingbirds. I worked my way around to the side to confirm the ID as a Cassin's Kingbird. There I could see that it had a darkish head (actually close in tone to a photographic gray card) strongly contrasting with the white throat. The other bird was a Western Kingbird.
