I don't remember the exact date, since lost all my records in Hurricane Katrina, but I did witness a true fallout at Birch Park in Fort Lauderdale. The best I can remember, is it was April 22, 1999. I was at the north end of the park and saw a line of clouds indicating an approaching front. Within minutes birds were dropping into the trees and onto the ground. And I mean pouring from the sky. There were tens of thousands of warblers and other migrants. Every step I would take scared up at least 15 birds. They were so exhausted, all they could do was flutter up and drop back to the ground. The following day the birds were still there and there were also thousands at Lloyd Beach.
