I just realized that I had not posted last Wednesday's Loxahatchee bird report (Wednesday - Loxahatchee, Thursday - errands, Friday - Marco Island and surrounds, Saturday - Bill Baggs Cape Florida, Sunday - Easter, Monday - Spanish River Park) - so I'm sorry for this late posting.
A very manageable group of 10 birders came to see a total of 55 species. Waterfowl included Black-bellied Whistling-Duck, Wood Duck, Mottled Duck, and Blue-winged Teal. No bitterns this week but the usual waders. No sightings of Snail Kites or Swallow-tailed Kites but raptors included both Vultures, Northern Harrier, Red-shouldered Hawk, and American Kestrel.
One lingering Lesser Yellow-legs joined several Black-necked Stilts and a beautiful female Belted Kingfisher in the C-6 impoundment. (Because I, personally, have seen so few females here, I jokingly say that state law prevents female Kingfishers from entering the state of Florida.)
Warblers included Palm, Northern Parula, (gorgeous) Prairie, Orange-crowned, Yellow-throated (in full breeding plumage -- today's photo-of-the-day), and Common Yellowthroat.
Hopefully we'll have more warblers and a return of the Swallow-tailed Kites this week.
