Sunday morning Brynne Langan, Major Waltman, Robin Diaz, and a few others were at Lucky Hammock and we were able to relocate the Myiodynastes flycatcher and ID it as Sulpher-bellied based on the thick blackish malar stripe that connected under the bill. We saw it feeding in fruiting Ficus on the east side of the hammock, just south of the shed. It seemed to be associating with a mixed warbler flock (which included a Nashville Warbler) and not associating with a large flock of Gray Catbirds also feeding in the ficus. The bird is not easy to observe and spends very little time perched in the open. It stayed fairly low, 5-20 feet up, most of the time. We never saw it high in the canopy. We also had 2 Clay-colored Sparrows in the same spot.
Good Luck,
Brennan Mulrooney
