Although "explosive" sounds somewhat far-fetched, it is not far from the truth. It is a word commonly used by British and Irish twitchers as a substitute for "irruptive". We would call an American Siskin an explosive species. The same can be used for the Scottish Crossbill. I don't usually haunt this listserv, but by chance I happened across it during a discussion of a twitcher-term. [DELETED]
