Hi Folks,
I spent a few hours at Lucky Hammock Monday morning. There were a good number of birds present. It was mostly the usual suspects, nothing explosive (sorry Alex, I couldn't resist.) The basic breakdown is as follows (see the listserves for a long and winding account af these and other sites visited.)
Yellow-breasted chat - 5 Three at the annex and two across from the hammock.
Painted bunting - lots at annex and hammock.
Indigo bunting - 2 at the annex.
Blue grosbeak - 1 near the bee hives out by the road.
Yellow-billed cuckoo - 1 bedraggled bird near the grosbeak.
Limpkin - 1 roosting on a wire at the annex.
Swainson's hawk - 1 beautiful immature in the fields on the ground.
Scissor-tailed flycatcher - 1 at the annex.
Magnolia warbler -1 annex.
American redstart -1 annex.
Northern waterthrush - annex
Ovenbird - annex.
Northern parula - annex.
Sharp-shinned hawk - 1 annex and hammock.
The Vermillion flycatcher was at his post along with a Scissor-tailed flycatcher and a Western kingbird.
At L & P park I spied two lovely Lark sparrows along the path west of the playground at Parking areas 2-4.
