Six hardy birders braved the early morning fog to join me on the first migration walk of the Spring. Perhaps we should have slept in..... Suffice it to say that the birding was S-L-O-W, and it was over an hour before we cracked double digits in species. Eventually, though, later in the morning the sun broke through, and we were able to salvage some bare respectability by tallying 4 warblers (B&W, Parula, Prairie, and Pine), plus a quick flyby by a vocal Cooper's Hawk. The walk ended early, but not before we got our last bird of the day, an Anhinga in a mixed kettle of TVs and BVs.
The list:
Anhinga
Great Egret
Black Vulture
Turkey Vulture
Cooper's Hawk
Common Moorhen
American Coot
Eurasian Collared-Dove
Mourning Dove
Blue Jay
Purple Martin - heard
Northern Mockingbird
European Starling
Northern Parula
Pine Warbler
Prairie Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
Northern Cardinal
Aratinga sp.
