Great picture! It would actually make a good Halloween poster.
Last year we left our bedroom door open while working outside in the evening. When we returned, a young Eastern screech owl was resting on one of the lampshades. It was amazing. We blocked the doorways to the rest of the house & to the bathroom, leaving the door open to go outside. Then we raised a broom. It first flew to another lampshade. Then it flew to a third lampshade before flying out the door to the great outdoors. We didn't have a camera handy. The owl had been hanging around our house for a couple of weeks and it was exciting to observe. But, we haven't seen it at all since its adventure in our house.
We live about a mile south of Sadowski park. We've had ruby throated hummingbirds in our yard since last year - they enjoy our firebush and Bahama Povonia (?SP). Recently we've had cardinals and bluejays daily in addition to the usual Northern mockingbirds & mourning doves.
