After a very active two weeks, Arch Creek Park is still hosting a good and interesting variety of birds. Today's highlight was an impressive light-phased adult Short-tailed Hawk making several passes over Arch Creek Park and the adjacent Enchanted Forest Park in North Miami. Other species of interest include:
Black-throated Blue Warbler - many
Black & White Warbler
Cn Yellowthroat
Pairie W.
Parula W.
Tennessee W. - 6 (Really abundant this year)
Chestnut-sided W. - 1 (imm - also more common this year)
Yellow-throated W.
Ovenbird - still abundant
Red-eyed Vireo - 1
White-eyed Vireo
Swainson's Thrush - 1 (Love those V. Creepers fruit)
Painted Bunting
Indigo Bunting
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds - numerous around Hamelia
Red-shoulered Hawk
Broad-winged Hawk
On Saturday, October 16, we had a Western Tanager - sorry for the delay in reporting this uncommon bird.
Good birding along main woodland trails & butterfly garden. Gate opens at 9:00am
