I had a similar bird a couple of years ago that too was missing from not only the Florida book, but the entire N. American book. I posted on this board and someone suggested it was a waxbill; a family of finches native to Africa that are common cage birds. What you might have is one of these escapees. Look online for waxbills. There are websites dedicated entirely to these birds, with lots of pictures. Mine turned out to be a gold breasted waxbill, but it doesn't match the description of your bird. Still, it's worth a try since the family has a lot of variety. Hope this helps.
