: I looked through my whole Florida Fabulous bird book and this bird was not in it. It was perched near my small pond eating seeds off a long grass stalk. It was a little bigger than a finch with a long thin beak like a finch or a flycatcher and was about the same size. It was a dark colored bird except for a redish orange breast. In 17 years in Florida I have never seen one of these. Any ideas?
How about a female scissor tailed flycatcher?
