: Many of the birds that arrived Friday seemed to have left this morning. We still managed to find 60+ species at Barnes, including 12 warbler species (Parula, Magnolia, Black-throated Blue, Pine, Palm, Prairie, Bay-breasted, Yellow-throated, Black-and-white, Redstart, Ovenbird, Common Yellowthroat), 4 thrushes (Veery, Swainson's, Gray-cheeked, and Wood), 3 tanagers (Summer, Scarlet, and Western!), Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Phoebe, Pewee, Indigo and Painted Bunting, and Tufted Titmouse.

After the TAS walk in Barnes, around 2PM I put my canoe in the canal near my house at Bill Sadowski Park for a little leisurely paddling and fishing. In the 10-15 minutes it took me to take out and pack up, I spotted 3 Eastern Wood-Pee Wees (lifer for me earlier that day at Barnes)and another lifer that eluded me, the male Painted Bunting. The Pee Wees were just as John Boyd described them, perched out in the open on a tree branch. The male Painted Bunting complemented the female Painted Bunting spotted by Felipe and Alex at Barnes, which incindently, was also a lifer for me. Thanks John, Alex, and Felipe.
