I got out to Markham Park this morning mainly to see if the Snail Kites had returned to WCA 2B since the area reflooded after drying out late last spring. The Kites haven't returned but the Purple Swamphens have. About ten were visible in the Spikerush a couple of hundred yards west of the levee that runs north from the southwest corner of the park. A check this afternoon of the perimeter road on the south side of Ft. Lauderdale International Airport turned up one Smooth-billed Ani sitting on the fence.

The migrants that arrived late last week appear to have thinned out over the last couple of days but today there seemed to be more Tennessee Warblers and Ruby-throated Hummingbirds around.
