Whether the "Hermit Thrush" was the Veery is a reasonable question. Our Veery had the brownish spots of a Veery, not the dark spots of a Hermit Thrush. It also lacked the contrasting tail of a Hermit Thrush. I also don't think your hypothesis about "tameness" is correct.

It's extremely early for Hermit Thrush.


: Was that "washed out Veery" actually the Hermit Thrush? John, Paul? It was found in the exact same area and Veery are not at all that tame, and Hermits are.
