On Friday afternoon, February 8, between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. I located a male and female Blue Grosbeak and female Dicksissel around the RR tracks near Krome. Be patient and check on the ground along the tracks as I had all three feeding on weed seeds together. The birds were approachable within 20 yards. I walked along the tracks north to the white rail sign and did not see much. The birds seem to hang around the NE corner of where the tracks and the canal intersect. Life is good........especially when you see two exceptionally reare wintering yearbirds for South Florida.
P.S. If you are an employee of the Miami Herald or the Sun Sentinel there are three coin-operated newstands that have been dumped by thieves on the SW corner of the tracks and canal. They are still in good condition. The location is south of Kendal and Krome. Turn left when you cross the canal and park just shy of the tracks.
